This was me eating a delicious Normandy Cookie right before they placed the foley tube. |
So a week ago today on September 2nd I went in for a Non Stress test, to make sure our little boy was still healthy in the womb. We they did the test my amniotic fluid was low, it is suppose to be 5 or above and I was at a 4.1 so they decided to induce me that day. Luckily I was prepared and had packed that morning hoping this very thing would happen. So we just walked downstairs and into the Labor and Delivery room. They started me on this cervis riping drug, which after 9 hours of being unsuccessful, they decided to insert a foley bulb to help me dilate sense after 9 hours I had made no progress. Well that wasn't very fun or comfortable, but it did the trick. They placed it at 9p.m. and then I decided to get an epidural at 12 a.m., but I didn't end up getting it until around 1:30 a.m. I was going to try to do the natural birth but, I am a wuse and couldn't make it. But when they took the tube out at 2:30a.m. I was dilated to a 3, they broke my water and then they started the pitocin after that. They checked me again at 4 and I was a 5, and then they checked me again at 7 and I was a 9 plus. So they waited two more hours and then checked me again and I was a 10 and ready to push. I started pushing at 9a.m. and pushed for two hours until little M.J. was finally ready to be born. He was born at 10:54 a.m. and weighed 9 lbs 1.2 ounces, and was 22 inches long. He was a very big boy. I could brag and say I was in labor for 25 hours, but the first 9 hours I was pretty much just hanging out, and then after the epidural I was set, so I didn't really have a painful labor or delivery.

L was amazing during the whole labor and delivery. He was a great coach and helped me every step of the way. My family was amazing too, treating me like a queen and bringing me food and treats and keeping me lots of company. L's parents were able to be in town as well, so it was awesome that they could be there too and be able to meet the little man. We are so blessed to have such an amazing little man to join our family, and for all the love and support everyone has given us.
Today he is a week old, because it took me a day to finish this post LoL. And he is so cute I love him so much!
Congrats Jane! So has the first couple weeks gone o.k? Are you nursing or formula feeding? Is Lester helping out a lot? I bet he is loving every moment. :) And you too.
ReplyDeleteIt has been wonderful! The first week was a lot harder than I thought but it has gotten easier. I'm nursing so we will see how it goes. Lester and I need to come to Idaho soon though to see everyone and your new little on too.
